Part 3
The start of a song thrush and a monster magpie. I'm thinking of doing a 2 stage lino print with a few magpies on. Impressive birdies despite their reputation for pilfering.
Part 1
I know I said that I would take photos after each bird, but three happened to flock down together. Here we have a pied wagtail, coal tit and sparrow- the baby birds of the piece but not the smallest if you can just about spot a wren's feet at the top left of the photo.
The birds have landed
I've been toying with the idea of doing a giant bird piece for a little while and have finally settled down to do it (much at the expense of my uni reading...). I'm also taking photos of the piece as it progresses to show the gradual build up of how I work, but also I thought it would be kind of amusing to take a photo after a new bird was added, as if they'd just flown down onto the paper and landed; with the end result being a mob of about twenty feathered friends.
The first part is the general mapping out in pencil, with the overall size being A2- monster birds!
